Hi, I’m Laura-An
I’m Laura-An Van der Steen, founder of Studio L’Art. I graduated in clinical psychology, but creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started painting when I was six, and what began as something playful slowly grew into something much bigger.
A few years ago, I decided to take the leap and started working as an independent artist. Since then, Studio L’Art has continued to grow with me. Today, my work extends beyond the canvas into webdesign, e-commerce and digital content. Two different worlds, connected by the same personal and creative approach.
From canvas...
All of my paintings are made entirely by hand using durable, high-quality materials. I work on linen canvases, which last longer than cotton and have a richer, more natural texture. My stretcher frames are custom-made from metal, providing long-term stability and tension, and each piece is finished with a wooden frame that is assembled by hand.
From the canvas to the smallest corner, every detail is considered. The result is a piece that is unique, solid and made to last.
For commissioned pieces, my process always starts with you. Whenever possible, I visit the space where the painting will eventually hang. I look at the room, the light, the colours, the proportions and the overall atmosphere. From there, I create something that truly belongs in that space — not only in terms of size and colour, but in the feeling it brings to the room.

I create websites and webshops and help businesses with social media, Google Ads and their wider online presence. I also help shape the visual direction of a project, from choosing colours and typography to finding a style that actually fits the business behind it.
Whether I’m creating a painting or building a website, I work in much the same way: I start by listening.
I want to understand what you have in mind, what fits you or your business and what you want the end result to feel like. You don’t need to have everything figured out beforehand. We shape the direction together. That personal contact continues throughout the entire project. You can ask for progress updates, give feedback and remain involved in the decisions along the way. I’m easily reachable and prefer working closely together rather than disappearing behind a screen until everything is finished.
And when your website or webshop is ready, it is yours. You receive all login details and access, together with an explanation of how everything works and how you can make changes yourself.
