Dune
Try to aim for the stars
Materials: acrylic paint, gold leaf, silver leaf, sand & modeling paste
240 x 80 cm
This large-scale painting was created specifically for the entrance hall; a space with clear architectural lines and a ceiling height of nearly six meters. The work is connected to its surroundings: the vertical shapes relate to the steel-framed doors, while the circular forms are based on the round chandeliers in the space.
The use of gold and silver leaf, black, white and earthy tones was a conscious choice, in line with the materials and colors used in the interior. The metal leaf brings light and reflection into the surface, changing subtly with the viewer’s position.
Although the composition might suggest something cosmic, that wasn’t the intention. The title Dune came intuitively. Not from a concept, but from the atmosphere of the painting itself: layered, grounded and calm with presence.
