Oxidize

Some beauty only appears with time.

Materials: texture paste, modeling paste, sand, crackle paste & copper leaf

150 x 50 cm

Oxidize explores the visual and symbolic transformation of copper as it reacts to time. The copper leaf gradually shifts from its original warm pink tone to a green patina; a natural process known as oxidation.

This reaction reflects how materials (and people) change over time. Though the surface evolves, the core remains. Through layered texture and contrast, the piece highlights the beauty found in aging, and the strength that lies beneath outward transformation.
